Greece "shakes" – double earthquake in Corinth and Loutraki

This morning two earthquakes, with a difference of one minute, occurred in Corinth and Loutraki, last night tremors shook Crete.

In the morning hours of Thursday, May 18, according to the Geodynamic Institute, seismic tremors with a force of 3.8 on the Richter scale were recorded in Corinth. The epicenter was located in the sea area north of Kiathos. The focus depth was 5 km.

And 6 km east of Xylokastro, an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale was fixed just a minute earlier. The depth of the earthquake source was also 5 km.

The day before, on the evening of Wednesday, May 17, three weak seismic shocks were registered near Corinth. According to the Geodynamic Institute, the first shock of magnitude 2.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 18:42 and was located six kilometers east of Xylokastro, followed by an aftershock of magnitude 1.9 on the Richter scale in the same area. At 18:55 another earthquake of magnitude 2.8 struck ten kilometers north of Kiato.

The earthquake happened and in Crete at 22:55, its epicenter was 7 km east of the port of Calais in Heraklion. The depth of the earthquake, according to the Geodynamic Institute, was at a depth of 5 kilometers, and its magnitude was 4.3 on the Richter scale.
