Australian fisherman eaten by crocodile (video)

In Australia, the body of a missing fisherman, 65-year-old Kevin Darmody, was found in a crocodile.

How tells Air Force, the remains of a man who went missing while fishing with friends were found inside a crocodile. He was last seen on Saturday at Kennedy Bend, a famous saltwater crocodiles habitat in a remote part of northern Queensland.

After a two-day search in the area, the police put two large crocodiles to sleep and found parts of human bodies. A police statement said it was a “tragic end” for Mr Darmody. An official identification procedure will be carried out.

Two crocodiles, measuring 4.1m and 2.8m in length, were shot dead on Monday about a mile from where the missing fisherman was last seen. Human remains have only been found inside one of the reptiles, but wildlife officials believe both were involved.

Kevin Darmody was an experienced fisherman and well-known member of the Cape York community. The fishermen did not see the attack, but reported hearing him scream and make a loud splash. His friend John Patey says:

“I rushed down … but he was not visible, only his slippers on the beach and nothing else.”

Crocodiles are common in the tropical north of Australia, but attacks on humans are extremely rare. Mr Darmody’s death is the 13th fatal attack in Queensland since records began in 1985.

A fisherman was killed by a crocodile under similar circumstances on Queensland’s Hinchinbrook Island in 2021, and there have also been fatal attacks in the far north of the state in 2017 and 2016. A similar incident occurred in Australia and 8 years ago:
