Accident in Aegina: children injured

Three children, high school students, who were slightly injured in a traffic accident involving a bus on Aegina, were taken to the Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

The traffic accident that took place in the parking lot of Agios Nektarios Church in Aegina involved a bus carrying students from the 5th high school of Halandrio who were on the island of Argosaronikos as part of a school trip, and an intercity bus ΚΤΕΛ.

According to iefimerida, the accident happened while the children were getting off the bus. At this time, another vehicle, the ΚΤΕΛ bus, “broke off the handbrake”, and the colossus drove into the bus with the children.

The information of the local media on Aegina says, in particular, that the bus with the pilgrims, which at that time was empty, swept past the point where the schoolchildren were, and only touched three children who were caught between two vehicles.

Three 14-year-old girls were injured in the accident. Their injuries are minor (two have abrasions, and the third has a chest wound. The schoolgirls were first transferred to the Aegina Medical Center, but then, as a precaution, it was decided to transfer them to the Children’s Hospital in Athens.

As for the uncontrolled bus ΚΤΕΛ, which was moving by itself, it crashed into a tree, which stopped its further progress.

The 40-year-old ΚΤΕΛ bus driver has been arrested for an accident, while it is being investigated if the bus driver parked legally.
