Ukrainian set himself on fire with a call to defend the homeland

Under the building of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow, a 63-year-old man doused himself with a flammable substance and set himself on fire.

The press secretary of the medical institution, Edita Przybylska, reports that “the condition of the man is tragic.” Doctors are trying to save his life.

The incident happened at about 7:50 am today. First, a man in Ukrainian called on his compatriots who had gathered at the consulate to return to their homeland and defend the country from the Russians. According to the publication, most likely he committed an act of self-immolation in protest against the fact that Ukrainian men are in Poland.

The Ukrainian was put out by random witnesses and a police patrol. At the time of admission to the hospital, he was conscious, but doctors assess his condition as serious. Police are on the scene, interviewing witnesses to the incident.
