Tourists in Thailand will be given yellow and red cards

The system of yellow (warning) and red (deportation) cards for foreigners was approved by the head of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, Lieutenant General Pakpompipat Satjapan.

They will be awarded to those who do not respect Thai law, Phuket News writes. For now, however, the authorities have no plans to innovate across the country, says Colonel Thanet Sukchai, head of the Immigration Bureau in Phuket:

“In other provinces, everything will depend on the decisions of local authorities.”

He explained that the main factor would be the availability of resources for the implementation of the system from specific immigration services. And he emphasized that the essence of the idea is to warn violators of the law and give them the opportunity to correct themselves, and not to punish immediately, as they do in a number of other provinces, quotes BB.LV:

“In some places, no one will even warn you. The Immigration Bureau immediately revokes permission to stay in the state when a foreigner is detained for inappropriate behavior.”

As an example, Sukchai cited the Chonburi campaign against foreign street racers*. According to the head of the Immigration Bureau in Phuket, they were expelled from the kingdom without any warning.

In the near future, officials plan to meet with consuls and honorary consuls of foreign countries in Phuket. Sukchai specified that this would happen “when the governor returns”, around the middle or towards the end of March.

*Street racing is translated from English as “street racing”. A street racer is a person who participates in speed competitions in city traffic.
