Bishop Ambrose: train wreck – “God’s punishment for the carnival”

Known for his highly orthodox statements, the former Bishop Ambrose of Kalavryta blamed the victims of the train derailment, claiming that it was God’s punishment for celebrating the carnival.

“The tragedy in Tempi could have been caused by our Lord’s anger over the celebration of the three-day carnival in Greece,” he said in a post full of hate for the young victims. “Carnival is”diabolical feast,” said a former metropolitan who supported the Golden Dawn party in the past, a “hunter” for migrants, refugees and homosexuals, convicted of inciting hate for LGBT people.

At a time when relatives are burying their loved ones, at a time when society is seething, demanding responsibility and no concealment, the religious shepherd found an explanation for the tragedy: the death of so many young people is nothing but God’s punishment.

In a post on a religious website ekklhsiaonline the former Metropolitan of Kalavryta and Aegiale, Ambrose, argued that this punishment came after the “devil’s festive carnival”, where sin and depravity abound and anger God, who decides to take the lives of young people in order to teach us a lesson.

In addition, he argued that Greece is turning into a country of atheists and magicians, and, accordingly, into a country of devilish parties, since homosexuals are given rights, young people are “indefensible”, even some politicians live together without marrying, and in general society departs from the “way of God.”

“The devil is celebrating his… conquests! And the crowning achievement of the Devil is THREE DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, three days of carnival,” Amvrosios wrote, among other things, in his post.

“Obscurantism and ultra-right perceptions do not cease to generate hatred even for the victims of the greatest tragedy,” the newspaper commented. Taneadescribing the statement of the former metropolitan as obscene And shameful, provocative And hypocritical.

Other commentators, on the contrary, were on the side of Ambrose, supporting his harsh statement.
