Attica Zoo: white tiger found abandoned under trash can

A bizarre incident that appears to be related to the illegal wildlife trade took place this morning outside the Zoological Park of Attica when a four-month-old white tiger cub was found abandoned near a dumpster.

According to Attico Park owner Jean-Jacques Lesueur in a message to iefimerida.gr, the unfortunate animal does not belong to the park, but was accidentally spotted by municipal cleaners under a trash can located outside the Attico Zoo (Αττικό Ζωολογικό Πάρκο).

“It all happened this morning when municipal employees went outside the park to collect garbage and were surprised to find that there was an animal under the tank. We were immediately informed and found that it was a White Tiger. This, as everything shows, is about the illegal trade in wild animals. He is only four months old, but he already has serious health problems. It is unlikely that he will survive. The tiger cub is paralyzed from the waist down,” said park owner Jean-Jacques Lesueur.

According to the zoo management: “At the moment we have taken him to ourselves and are treating him. We took an x-ray and gave him medication. The baby is looked after by two veterinarians. We are waiting to see what happens. Obviously, someone got it illegally, something went wrong and they decided to throw the animal out on the street.”
