Tempi: Families of victims go to court

The number of families of victims of the tragedy in Tempi who will sue all those responsible, demanding justice for their people, is growing.

The victims are preparing to turn to justice in order to identify the real, not the appointed, perpetrators and avoid a similar tragedy in the future.

Speaking on MEGA’s Live News, Manolis Vonikakis, a lawyer for the family of 28-year-old Elpida Chupa, who was on the train, said the family would take action against all perpetrators: “The family’s real demand is that justice be strict and independent, for it to do its job properly. Let’s let him do his job, let him do his job quickly and gather evidence.” According to him, legal measures will be taken against all those responsible: “In the coming days, we will have the materials of the case. We will take action against the stationmaster and against all those responsible.”

The lawsuit against Kostas Karamanlis is filed by the father of the victim. “We will sue and seek criminal liability for this horrific incident, be it a political figure or ose. Mr. Aslanidis, the father of the accident victim, instructed him to file a lawsuit against Kostas Karamanlis, the former Minister of Transport who, prior to the accident, ensured that rail transport was safe for the Greek people. We will also sue all those responsible,” the lawyer of the victims of the tragedy concluded.

Another passenger of the fateful train also chose the judicial path from the first moments after the accident. A 29-year-old passenger being treated for chest injuries at Larissa General Hospital has filed a first appearance in support of the prosecution. As can be seen from the documents that he submitted to the competent prosecutors of Larissa, measures will be taken both in relation to the head of the station in Larisa, who was on duty at a particular moment, and in relation to any other person, physical or moral culprit of the accident.
