Turkey’s six opposition parties have chosen a single candidate for the presidency of the country, whose elections will be held in May.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s successor is expected to be 74-year-old Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Officially, the name of the candidate from the “People’s Alliance”, which unites 6 opposition parties, will be announced on Monday, March 6th.
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is the leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party of Turkey. Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavash are also named among the candidates. Turkish presidential elections are scheduled for May 14.
