Weather: rain, storm and heat

According to the forecast of meteorologists, clouds with locally increased concentrations of African dust will prevail on the territory of our country on 26/02.

Rains are expected first in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and gradually in the Ionian Sea, in the west of the mainland, as well as in areas of the rest of northern Greece.

The storm is expected in the northern part of the Ionian Sea and Epirus, where the phenomena will be locally intense. Atmospheric conditions favor the gradual transfer of a significant amount of dust from Africa, writes newsbreak.gr.

The air temperature is kept at high levels for the season. According to the meteorological service of the National Observatory of Athens, it will fluctuate in Western Macedonia from +1 to +16°С, in the rest of Northern Greece from +5 to +18°С, in Epirus from +6 to +20°С, in Thessaly from +6 to +23°С, in the rest of mainland Greece from +8 to +22°С, on the Ionian Islands from +11 to +19°С, on the islands of the Aegean Sea and Crete from +10 to +23°С.

On the seas and in some places in the Aegean Sea, the wind force is up to 8 points on the Beaufort scale. South/southeast winds will prevail. In places, stormy southerly winds are also expected in the ground parts (mainly mountainous regions and foothills) of western Greece, eastern Sterea, Evia and Thrace.

In Attica cloudy and relatively high concentrations of dust are expected at times. Wind southeast force 5-6 points on the Beaufort scale, in some places in the east up to 7 points. Air temperature from +12 to +19°С.

In Thessaloniki cloudy with increased chance of showers in the afternoon. The concentration of African dust in the atmosphere will also increase. Wind southeast, gusty, up to 5 on the Beaufort scale. Air temperature from +11 to +18°С.
