Problems, especially of an environmental nature, are caused by citizens who consider the road a “dimensionless garbage dump” where you can safely throw away a bag of chips, an empty plastic bottle, an unextinguished cigarette butt, a stub, and even a receipt for paying the fare. Tell me, how many times have you seen the picture when the driver of the car that passed in front of you opens the window and throws out a crumpled piece of paper that has now become unnecessary, without blushing.
However, these car owners may not be aware that the law provides severe penalties for those who throw objects from the car that spoil the appearance of the road network and / or create a fire hazard.
In particular, the reference to such an offense as ejection of an object from a vehicle, is contained in paragraph 3 of article 12 “General provisions”, which refers us to paragraph 1 of article 29 of Law no. The law states that an administrative measure is applied to offenders as a punishment, writes carandmotor.gr.: “Drivers of all types of vehicles who throw out of their vehicle objects or substances that pollute the environment or may cause a fire or accident, such as cigarette butts, are punished by the deprivation of their driving license on the spot by the person certifying the violation for a period of 60 days.”
The relevant checks are the responsibility of the traffic police, but any police service can confirm a specific violation, and in the case of cigarettes, the responsible fire department.
