How to teach to eat legumes those who "turn up their noses"

A study in Europe found that people do not eat legumes mainly due to a lack of awareness of their unique health benefits or lack of knowledge about cooking methods.

Legumes contain two to three times more protein than cereals. Today we will talk about chickpeas (ρεβιθιά) – beans that resemble large peas and are somewhat similar to hazelnuts.

Nut – a real find for those who do not eat meatbecause it contains protein, which is so necessary for a person to build muscle tissue.

Finding recipes on how to cook various traditional Greek chickpea dishes on the Internet is not difficult. These are soups and side dishes, as well as the famous hummus. In addition, it is boiled and added to salads.

And yet there are those who say to chickpeas: “fu!”. And we will take and make such an appetizer (even, perhaps, with beer) that no one can ignore it. By the way, the yummy is also very relevant during fasting (as a lean dish).

The benefits and calorie content of chickpea snacks – “στραγάλια” are described below, after the video.

Recipe for “crispy yummy” (analogous to chips and salted nuts – but! not at all harmful) from chickpeas.

Boil the chickpeas in a pot of salted water. Attention! There is no need to boil the beans, as we are not going to cook a regular dish from them.

After 1 hour (or one and a half), drain the water and sprinkle on a baking sheet. We fry (dry) in the oven at a temperature of 150 ° C. You can sprinkle with spices (to give a piquant taste). We look when the chickpeas dry out (if you shake the baking sheet, there will be a characteristic sound, see video). This means that the “crunchies” are ready.

Or here is another video (with already boiled chickpeas). Do not hesitate, the guests (or your family) will appreciate the appetizer put on the table and will go crazy! Bon appetit!

And for those who love sweets (and can afford it), you can cook sweet “nuts” (“sweets”) from chickpeas.

Among the healthiest low-fat snacks chickpeas can rightly be called a superfood, which deservedly takes a leading place, leaving nuts behind. Indeed, compared to them (containing a sufficient amount of fat), chickpeas contain very little of it. In addition, στραγάλια is a complete meal! The fact that two handfuls of chickpeas equals 1 serving of lean meat and 1 serving of spaghetti!

Chickpeas are a good source of carbohydrates and proteins, contain a lot of plant fiber, and also contain vitamin A and beta-carotene, vitamins necessary for cell regeneration. It also contains vitamins K and C.

Chickpeas are also rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, and magnesium. However, its health benefits do not end there. He contains a large amount of plant sterols, as a result of which they help lower cholesterol. And besides, it contains folic acid, which promotes the regeneration of red blood cells and protects against anemia and thrombocytopenia.

IN 100 grams of στραγάλια chickpea snack (not sweet!) contains 370 calories. This is 60 grams of carbohydrates, of which 10 are simple, and the rest are complex (17 g of fiber). It also contains 19-20 grams of protein and 5 grams. unsaturated fats and only 1 g of saturated.

The benefits of eating it are on the face! Despite the fact that this yummy is from the “cheap and cheerful” series.
