Mini-guide: where to go for Christmas in Athens

Christmas is already very close. Athens has dressed up, the housewives are rushing to buy the necessary products for the festive table, and the Christmas and New Year events that will be held in the Greek capital promise surprises and unforgettable impressions.

Parks, skating rinks, music scenes and crowded squares of Athens call not to stay at home, but to surrender to the will of the holiday, to feel the spirit of Christmas and the New Year. From December 23 to January 6 in “Christmas Villages” Athenian districts are being transformed, from Acharnon and Lambrini to Pagrati and Hellinorosson. Agios Vassilis, accompanied by his cute elves, will greet his little and adult friends every day with treats, face painting and other interactive entertainment. And there will also be jugglers and stilt walkers, animators and a lot of Christmas souvenirs.

From December 17 to January 1 a festively decorated square awaits guests Omonia. There will be a Christmas market, offering treats and plenty of entertainment for young and old, and special events have been prepared. Visitors to Omonia will have the opportunity to taste salty and sweet delicacies at specially equipped stands, make interesting purchases and enjoy the atmosphere of Christmas in the heart of Athens.

The Greek capital did not forget about entertainment for children with parents. From December 7 and for a whole month in the premises of ΟΠΑΝΔΑ, museums, libraries, an art gallery, the Art Center, the Melina Cultural Center, innovative and interesting events are held for big and small in the creative training centers of seven municipalities, offering endless joy and giving beautiful children’s smiles. This Christmas, the Anna and Maria Kaluta multi-purpose hall returns renovated and welcomes the public with free musical and theatrical performances.
