In northern Chile, in a mining region, a huge crater 200 deep and 25 meters wide formed.
She appeared next to the Alcaparossa copper mine in the province of Copiapo. A medical center and residential buildings are located 600 meters from the edge of the hole. The management of the mine was forced to temporarily suspend work, writes Independent.
At the site of the formation of the failure, specialists from the National Service of Geology and Mining of Chile are working. Other than a large amount of water, the experts did not find the presence of any materials inside the funnel.
Lundin Mining, the mine operator, said there were no casualties. Experts are trying to find out the cause of the sinkhole and reassure local residents.
