For the first time since February 24, Russian officials spoke of “the need to occupy all of Ukraine”, in connection with the threats of Ukraine to strike at the “Crimean Bridge”.
“Kyiv’s statements about the possibility of strikes against Crimea show that denazification and demilitarization must take place throughout Ukraine. Otherwise, the threat to the territory, infrastructure and citizens of Russia will remain permanently.” – Andrey Klishas, chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation of the Federation Council, a close associate of Vladimir Putin, wrote on his Telegram channel.
Does this mean that Moscow has the reason it was looking for to proceed with the occupation of all of Ukraine?
Russia, probably, does not need such reasons: everyone now understands, no matter which camp they belong to, that this war will end with one: the occupation of the whole of Ukraine or the expulsion of Russians from Ukraine. The second will be much more difficult …
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced that it would give a legal assessment to the statements of Ukrainian officials. Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya compared them with “characteristic behavior of terrorists”, notes the Russian edition.
It should be noted that yesterday Dmitry Medvedev, former president of Russia, and now deputy chairman Russian Security Councilalso declaredwhat “If the Crimean bridge is attacked by Ukrainian troops, then judgment day will come for them all.” He said it speaking at an event for veterans of the Russian Army, adding: “If any other state, such as Ukraine and NATO member countries, believes that Crimea is not Russian, then this state poses a systemic threat to us”.
It is noted that on July 8, US General Philip Breedlove, former Supreme Commander of NATO forces in Europe, declaredthat attack on Crimean bridge is legitimate purpose and can be destroyed with a single Harpoon missile: “Ukraine can deal a serious blow to Moscow by attacking Kerch.”
Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Marchenko declaredthat the Crimean bridge will become the number one goal if the Ukrainian troops receive appropriate weapons from the United States and Europe. On Saturday, Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the administration of Volodymyr Zelensky declaredthat Ukraine could attack the Crimean bridge “as soon as the first technical possibility appears.”
