Greece: Buses reopen front doors

ΟΑΣΘ reports that the front doors of buses are reopening for passengers. At the same time, on some routes, the entrance will be only through them, with the presentation of tickets and travel cards.

For passengers, the use of a high-protection mask remains mandatory. The alternative is double tissue or surgical. Giorgios Skodras, President and CEO of ΟΑΣΘ, says:

“As part of the return to normality, OASΘ is opening the front doors of buses to make it easier for passengers to board. We hope everything goes well and it doesn’t have to be closed again.”

As an experiment, on some routes passengers will only board through the front doors to combat stowaways. The exception is passengers in wheelchairs. Passengers will exit through all other doors of the bus. Drivers will check tickets, unlimited travel cards, or other documentary evidence of eligibility for free travel. Mr. Skodras explains:

“At 12 routes, we are piloting exclusive front-door boarding to provide additional driver validation of tickets. We urge our fellow citizens to respect these efforts and support ΟΑΣΘ’s revenue-saving efforts as much as possible.”

Front door boarding will operate on the following routes:
