As it became known, today at 18.00 the vaccination committee will make an official announcement regarding the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Today, the Ministry of Health will inform “the national vaccination plan against COVID-19” in a speech prepared by the president of the National Committee for Vaccination, Maria Theodoridou
According to the information, the recommendation will concern older citizens who are more at risk of serious illnessand the committee will consider whether it should be done for all people over 60.
The decline in vaccine protection over time, as well as concerns about the possibility of a new coronavirus mutation in the coming months, which will de facto be more dangerous for older people, have become the focus of specialists, prompting them to develop a long-term coordinated plan to combat covid.
Recall that until today in Greece the fourth dose of the vaccine is given only to immunocompromised people.
Maria Theodoridou has expressed her positive stance in recent weeks on the possibility of vaccinating older people with a fourth dose, citing similar practices in other European countries such as Sweden.
The platform will open in the coming days. Experts it remains to be determined how many months later the fourth dose of the vaccine should be given.
