Electricity subsidies for households and businesses in April bills

Kostas Skrekas signed documents for the provision of an electricity subsidy for April, specifying what discounts households and businesses will have.

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, informed electricity suppliers about the renewal of the state subsidy in the April bills.

Household accounts

  • The subsidy covers the main residences (approximately 4.2 million benefits) according to the income tax return for 2020 financial year.
  • The subsidy is provided to all beneficiaries social housing tariff (KOT).

For consumers to whom sliding tariffs for electricity are applied, the specific subsidy is set in the amount of:

  • For the first 150 kWh of the month in the amount of 270 EUR/MWh.
  • With consumption from 151 to 300 kWh per month in the amount of 210 euros / MWh.

The average monthly aid for an average household consuming up to 300 kWh per month increases by 80% in April compared to March, from 40 euros to 72 euros.

For social housing account recipients, the subsidy per unit is set at 290 EUR/MWh for the first 300 kWh of consumption per month. The average monthly aid to the COT increases from 53 euros in March to 87 euros in April.

Non-residential accounts (agricultural, commercial, industrial, professional and other uses of electricity)

  1. For business consumers, regardless of the voltage level, who operate on sliding tariffs, the specific subsidy doubles in April compared to March and amounts to 130 EUR/MWh for the entire monthly consumption.
  2. For professional consumers (industrial, agricultural, etc.) with a power supply up to 35 kVA and for all bakeries, regardless of the power supply, the total consumption is additionally subsidized in the amount of 100 EUR/MWh.

Thus the total specific subsidy for these categories is 230 EUR/MWh. It is noted that the number of recipients increases by 80,000 (up to 1,240,000 in total). It was announced that small and medium-sized enterprises with electricity supply up to 25 kVA will receive an additional subsidy of 100 euros/MWh.

What is provided for bakeries

In the case of bakeries, electricity companies must obtain data from their customers to verify the beneficiaries (confirmation of the relevant CAD, ACM, etc.).

The subsidy measure for total electricity consumption for professional consumers up to 35 kVA and for all bakeries will retroactively apply to consumption in January, February and March 2022.
