Snowfall made life difficult in Athens

The real problem in Athens was Elpis’ bad weather and the snow she brought.

At 10 a.m., a message was sent to the people of Athens from service 112 asking them to avoid unnecessary travel and warning of very heavy snowfall.

The situation on Kifisias Avenue, one of the central highways of Athens, is bad: the road is already beginning to be covered with snow and creating problems for vehicles moving along it.

The movement of electric trains to and from the airport has been temporarily suspended. Heavy snowfall brought by the Elpis cyclone created serious problems for public transport.

According to STASY, tram traffic has been temporarily stopped at the L. Vouliagmenis stop due to icing on the tram tracks.

While line 1 ΗΣΑΠ is operating normally.

It should be noted that, according to TRAINOSE, due to weather events, the afternoon local routes of the Suburban Railway on the Koropi-Kantza section have been suspended for today. Recall that due to the snowfall, there were serious problems with the road network throughout the region of Attica.

In its new update (time 11:08) TRAINOSE informs that train routes are canceled for today:

1546, 1551, 1554, 1559 on the Athens – Chalkis section, 2238, 2239, 2246, 2247 on the Airport – A. Liosia section. .
