Bad weather: schools in Attica will be closed on Monday and Tuesday

The unusually cold weather front “Elpis” apparently led to the decision of the Greek authorities not to open schools in Attica on January 24 and 25 for security reasons.

The Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, spoke about the actions being taken in the region in connection with the approach of severe bad weather. It is almost certain that schools will remain closed in Attica on Tuesday, he said, as enough snow is expected in the basin. However, the same confidence in the future does not exist, and the decision for Monday is expected to be taken in the afternoon of Sunday, 23/01.

“We have to assess the situation regarding the safety of children, both in terms of their movement to educational institutions by road, and in terms of unprecedented cold weather,” the official said.
