Bloody showdown in Glyfada

The shooting on Friday night in Glyfada, as the first data from the police investigation show, hides either a failed assassination attempt, or a final warning – the victim of the attack remained alive.

The attack with the use of firearms was targeted last Friday, a 43-year-old man who reportedly owns a large number of gas stations in Athens and Piraeus. At about 9 pm, on Megalu Alexandru Street in Glyfada, two motorcyclists with their faces covered approached him a short distance and fired at least four times, hitting his hand. After that, they left the scene of the incident at high speed.

The victim is currently in the hospital. Police expect him to give detailed testimony in the near future about the attack and possibly receiving threats in the days leading up to the attack.

In the meantime, the authorities are investigating. For example, they are studying publications in 2020 about his participation in the large sponsorship of the football teams of the Peloponnese (the amount is not indicated). There is also information about his friendship with Vasilis Stefanakos, who died in Haidari in January 2018.
