Humanitarian aid from Austria for the victims of the fire in the north of Evia

Great and enthusiastic was the response of the Greek community of Austria, philhellene academic and business circles, as well as classical theater artists to the appeal of the Secretary of the Council of Greeks Abroad (SAE) and the President of the Greek Society of Austria, Dr. Olga Saranthopoulou, after the catastrophic August fires on the island of Evia (Evia) , collect humanitarian aid to victims of fires in northern Evia.

The campaign of compassion and love, carried out in cooperation with the Austrian community of South Pelion, led by civil engineer Wolfgang Heiss, involved the City of Vienna, ethnic Greek organizations, factories, businesses, companies, as well as ordinary ethnic Greeks and citizens. Austria, diplomats, university professors and many others. In this case, the income from the special screening of the performance, as well as the fees of the actors, will be paid to the cashier of the fundraising campaign.

The campaign has been very successful. Collected more than 20 tons of essential items, bedding, sanitary and hygiene products, clothes for children and adults, stationery and other goods that are already on the way. The first container from GARTNTER KG HELLAS en route through Patras to northern Evia is expected to arrive on the morning of Monday 20 September from 10 am to 11 am. The humanitarian aid will be placed in the premises, which will be provided by the monastery of St. David. Dr. Olga Sarantopulu will conduct an inventory with volunteers, community representatives and residents of the area affected by the fire.
