Tour operators explained the exorbitant prices for tickets to Greece

Experts explained the record high prices for air tickets to Greece by the lack of demand for the destination.

This information appeared on website Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR)

The cost of an Aeroflot ticket on the Moscow-Thessaloniki route reaches 78,000 rubles one way. The Greek airline Aegean Airlines offers to fly to the resort for 37 thousand rubles. Prices for regular flights from Moscow to Heraklion range from 24 thousand rubles to 61 thousand.

It is noted that the high cost of transportation does not allow tour operators to form budget proposals for mass tourists. For example, a week in Crete can cost two travelers 103 thousand rubles, in Thessaloniki – 93 thousand.

“If carriers are able to adjust their pricing policy, Greece will become more accessible, which, in turn, will stimulate demand for destinations among organized tourists,” said ANEX Tour representatives.

The experts also added that a possible solution to the problem could be an increase in the number of flights to popular destinations, as well as competition between airlines.

Earlier in June, the Greek authorities changed rules of entry into the country for Russians. Now tourists will need to take a PCR test at the border. The changes took effect on June 30th.
