Shock: a fine of 300 euros for an unvaccinated person

The opening of the dining areas is one of the problems, along with the mandatory vaccination, which will be resolved today by the Greek government.

The explosive increase in cases and fear of the spread of the Delta mutation have raised alarm and led to a revision of certain parameters of measures to combat the spread of covid, i.e. terms and conditions for the implementation of the two-tier system.

The decline in planned new vaccinations and the significant number of unvaccinated people over the age of 60 raise concerns about the possibility of fighting the fourth wave, especially in the fall, when most of the activities will be moved indoors.

The need for further processing of new epidemiological data leads to a delay of several days in the opening of closed dining and entertainment establishments. It was originally planned to open them again on July 15, with a simultaneous division into clean and mixed rooms (for vaccinated and not).

However, the possibility remains open that this will happen at the end of the month and after the experts have expressed their competent opinion.

In light of this, it is possible that at the first stage, catering establishments (indoors) will work only for vaccinated people, and the work of mixed zones will be postponed until later. The final decision will be made and announced in the coming days.

Fines for companies and unvaccinated violating measures
There are huge fines for businesses and customers who violate the operating conditions of enclosed spaces. Fines from 3,000 to 10,000 euros will be imposed in overcrowded premises, halls (inappropriate number of visitors in a given square of the area, determined by the sanitary protocol). It is also planned to suspend the work of establishments that are violators for a period of 7 to 15 days.

In the event of a repeated violation, the enterprise will be closed and the company license revoked.

If the client is in a place reserved exclusively for vaccinated people and does not have the necessary documents, he will be fined 300 euros. In addition, if he suddenly has a forged document, the fine is 3,000 euros.

In the coming days, gov.gr will launch a dedicated app that companies will download to check barcodes of vaccination documents or customer tests. The app will have three color indicators: green when referring to a client who has been vaccinated or infected with the coronavirus. Yellow for a customer who tests negative for coronavirus. Red – unreliable document (unvaccinated citizen).
