Earlier Wednesday, seven Afghan women MPs arrived in Athens via Tbilisi, accompanied by their family members, the Foreign Ministry said.
Seven women were expelled from Afghanistan in the aftermath of the actions of the New York-based Zaka Khan non-governmental organization.
Their arrival and stay in Greece, which is closely coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, is part of the government’s commitment to host a token number of Afghan citizens, champions of “fundamental values, freedom of expression and equality.”
The MPs and their family members will stay in Greece for a short time until the procedures for their relocation and settlement in the United States are completed, the Foreign Ministry said.
As we previously reported, the United States, “distributes” its supporters from Afghanistan to allied countries, fearing (not without reason) that terrorists, simply criminals, could penetrate the country.
