Heavy rainfall occurred in Chaidari, Petroupoli, Zephyri and Peristeri, as well as in the northern suburbs of Maroussi, Chalandri, Penteli and Vrilisia. Heavy rain also hit Kypseli and central Athens, turning streets into rivers.
Pedestrians ran for cover from the heavy rain, and motorcyclists struggled to navigate central Athens.
According to the fire service, the fire service's operational centre has so far received 51 calls in Attica, mainly from the areas of the Athens municipality (Patissia-Kypseli), as well as from Psychiko and Galati.

Of these, 34 calls involved pumping out water, 8 involved cutting down trees, and 9 involved rescuing people from elevators.
Some time ago, a warning was transmitted via the 112 telephone to residents of Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thassos, Samothrace, Lemnos and Agios Efstratios about dangerous weather conditions expected from Tuesday evening. At the same time, residents of these areas are asked to limit their travel.
