A Ukrainian who was accused by the Russian authorities of participating in a criminal organization and received Red Notice from Interpol, detained by Greek authorities on the night of Tuesday 25/06 in the center of Athens.
Others were detained along with him. one Ukrainian and one Moldovan. These three people were in a cafeteria on Panepistimiou Street along with about another 10 persons of Georgian originwho have in the past been brought in by the authorities on charges of theft and robbery as members of “Georgian gang”.
The Greek security authorities were informed about meeting meeting participants in the center of Athens and first took all the people to the Attica Police Headquarters (GADA). There, it was discovered that one of those detained and taken to the detention center was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice, while the second Ukrainian was in possession of a pistol and would be charged under the Weapons Act. The Moldovan was found to have an expired visa and will be detained until deported.
