The Thessaly Water Authority announced on Thursday a temporary ban on swimming on all coasts of the Magnesia and Larissa regions of central Greece, with the exception of beaches in the Northern Sporades, following floods caused by deadly Hurricane Daniel.
The announcement stated that sampling to test the suitability of the waters for bathing was not currently possible.
Until laboratory confirmation of water quality is possible, it is recommended to avoid swimming.
The coasts of the Northern Sporades, including Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, are exempt from the swimming ban.
