The police were alerted late on Monday evening when a shootout broke out in the center of Athens near the temple of Agios Panteleimon, as a result of which one person was seriously injured.
According to the police, shortly after 10:00 p.m., number 100 received a message about shots at the intersection of Kimi and Aharnon streets.
Police forces were urgently sent to the scene, and as a result of the check, a man was found living at the address: st. Mikhail Voda, 153, seriously wounded by a firearm. According to preliminary data, 6 shots were fired at him, and he has wounds all over his body. The condition of the wounded is assessed as serious.
An ambulance was immediately called to the scene and the man was taken to the hospital.
According to police, at about 10:05 p.m., unidentified persons in a car opened fire on a man – probably a foreigner of Afghan origin – and seriously wounded him.
The police are currently investigating to identify the perpetrators.

Judging by the identity of the victim, it is about attempts to redistribute the Afghan heroin market. Literally three days earlier, four Greek citizens shot and killed a native of Pakistan in the neighboring district of Athens, Kato Patissia. According to police, the defendants together attacked the man to rob him, and the 20-year-old Greek fatally stabbed him in the chest. The arrested persons with the materials of the case formed against them were delivered to the competent body of the prosecutor’s office.
