The intervention of police officers from the DIAS emergency response unit in Thessaloniki proved life-saving for a 2-year-old girl who accidentally burned her face with a caustic composition.
The police set up a “bridge of life” for the timely hospitalization of the child in the Papanicolaou hospital. An “open path” was installed on the roadway, along which the car with the baby immediately took the victim to the clinic. The girl was taken to the hospital in 8 minutes! Meanwhile, the video posted on the network shows the maneuvers that the car made in order to be in time. At the same time, it is clear that a DIAS patrol is ahead of her on motorcycles, “clearing the way.”
Speaking to Action24, Emmanuel Papaioannou stated that “Last Saturday we patrolled the Neapolis area. At some point, at 12:30, on Andrea Papandreou Street, where there was a terrible traffic jam, we found that a man was waving his hand from the open car window, calling us. We approached him, and he said that acid had got into his child’s eyes, and the girl urgently needed to be taken to the hospital. But with such a traffic jam, it was impossible to get to the first-aid post in a reasonable time. The head of the police continued: “Without a moment’s hesitation, we informed the driver how the escort should take place, at the same time we informed the operational headquarters. We managed to get to the hospital quickly and safely, in about 8 minutes.”
