The US authorities urged their citizens to refuse to travel to the Russian Federation, and those who are there to immediately leave the country.
On September 27, the United States Embassy in Moscow published a security warning for US citizens: “Those who live or travel in Russia should immediately leave the country,” the newspaper writes. “Lenta.ru”.
The US embassy explains that the announced partial mobilization could affect dual citizens who could be called up for military service, and they may also face difficulties if they want to leave Russia. This will happen if the Russian authorities “refuse to recognize US citizenship in persons with dual citizenship.”
Embassy pays attention citizens to a significant reduction in commercial flights from the Russian Federation. In the event that they are faced with a lack of air tickets, the diplomatic mission recommends not to wait, but to leave Russian territory in cars and buses.
The seriousness of the appeal, apparently, is associated with the possible closure of the borders of the Russian Federation due to the not yet declared martial law. It is also possible that American citizens will fall into the sphere of interests of Russian military registration and enlistment offices. It is also possible that the embassy’s statements are linked to that of Jake Sullivan, US national security adviser, who, in an interview with CBS, is quoted by Euronews as saying:
“We told the Kremlin directly, privately, at a very high level, that any use of nuclear weapons would be disastrous for Russia, that the US and our allies would respond strongly.”
An appeal to their citizens to leave the Russian Federation was published by the embassies of some European countries – Estonia, Bulgaria, Poland.
