Rising rents are another factor affecting the financial situation of Greek city dwellers, along with rampant inflation, especially rising energy and food prices.
According to a survey conducted among just over 1,000 respondents by the research and communications firm About People , almost half (47.8%) individual tenants are either having difficulty paying their rent or are in arrears with rent payments.
Also, almost half (49.1% and 49.3%, respectively) say they are unable to save money and find it very difficult or impossible to buy your own home.
Over six in ten (61.7%) say they need cut other expenses, including food clothing and rest, to be able to pay rent.
In addition, 22.1% partially subsidize the rent for loan account from relatives and friends.
However, expensive rent has its positive side: partners, each of whom lives in their own apartment, enter into cohabitation earlier than planned in order to reduce costs.
