Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine on the frigate "Admiral Makarov"

Aleksey Arestovich denied that a Ukrainian missile hit the Admiral Makarov frigate.

In an interview with Mark Feigin, an adviser to the head of the President’s Office called the message about this “some kind of misunderstanding,” the publication quotes “The country”:

“Ours struck Zmeiny. They drowned this Sarna there. This is a boat designed to transport equipment. But no Makarov was sunk. It was some kind of misunderstanding.”

On May 6, MP from the European Solidarity faction Oleksiy Goncharenko said that near Odessa burning Russian frigate Admiral Makarov. The reason for the fire on the ship, the parliamentarian called the impact of the Ukrainian army missiles Neptune.

The message also appeared in the Odessa edition “Dumskaya”, which wrote that the warship “Admiral Makarov” was on fire in the Black Sea area. Rescue ships from the Crimea came to his aid. The media reported that the fire broke out on board the Russian frigate of project 11356P of the Burevestnik type, which is located near Zmeiny Island, writes “Glavred”.

Later, the Turkish channel TRT Haber published a possible video of the crash of the frigate. The video was filmed from a drone. The quality of the video is too low, so it is impossible to say for sure that this is the “Admiral Makarov”.

Official Pentagon spokesman John Kirby commented on media reports about a possible incident with Russian frigates: “We have been studying this all day, and we have no information to confirm these reports.”

Speaker of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich, who earlier hastened to declare that “Admiral Makarov was hit by a Ukrainian missile,” said in the evening that he had no official information with regards to the ship, and “it may well turn out that no one was drowned or knocked out.” Later edition “Crimea. Realities» reported that the hospital of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in Sevastopol, presumably brought wounded soldiers from the frigate “Admiral Makarov”, the defeat of which was previously reported by the Neptune missile.
