ELAS helicopters and drones will continuously deliver images to the operations center of the GADA General Police Headquarters, and the rooftops of buildings will be monitored.

The date “Polytechnio” is the November 17 uprising of the students of the Athens Polytechnic Institute, when the students took power in an organized way on the territory of the educational institution. They created self-government bodies, organized radio broadcasting, issued leaflets and distributed among the city residents who came to support them.

On November 17, the junta decided to resolve this political crisis by military means. At night, a tank drove into the territory of the institute, and the military entered, thereby violating the rules of “university immunity”. 24 dead, 128 seriously wounded, 1103 injured – this is the unofficial result, for there has never been an official one. This event led to a tightening of the military regime, which ended less than a year later. On these days, demonstrations are held in Athens and throughout the country in memory of the victims. “Polytechnio” symbolizes in the minds of the Greeks the struggle for freedom, national independence, democracy, personal rights and social justice.
