Early Sunday morning (09/22/24) police officers OPKE attacked with sticks and stones in the Roma camp in Nea Zoe, in Aspropyrgos.
It all started at 02:45 in the morning, when the OPKE police officers patrolling the Nea Zoi area entered one of the houses in the camp to admonish those disturbing the peace. Upon arrival, the OPKE team was violently attacked with sticks, stones and other objects. Four police officers were injured when heavy objects were thrown at them. Tear gas and stun grenades were used for protection.
The group of police officers who were attacked were helped by their colleagues, three OPKE groups. The officers, having reached the scene of the incident, detained two gypsies: a 31-year-old and a 38-year-old. The service car was damaged.
The Aspropyrgos Police Department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the matter.
