A family hit by a drunk driver in Thessaloniki suffered an unfortunate event: the mother of a two-year-old child, who was pregnant, lost her baby.
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old driver, accused in an accident with three cars in Thermi, is expected to testify to the investigator on Monday, September 16, before the 3rd regular investigator of Thessaloniki.
The prosecutor of the first instance brought charges against him for “dangerous driving on the road by a person driving a vehicle although unable to do so safely due to alcohol consumption, resulting in serious bodily injury to two persons” (felony), as well as in “serial infliction of bodily harm through negligence.”
He reportedly claims to have drunk a glass of tsipouro, but two blood tests were taken showed that the level of alcohol in his blood exceeded the permissible limits, allegedly 0.64 and 0.75 mg/l, respectively.
The couple injured in the accident are in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki, while their 2-year-old child is in the pediatric surgery clinic but is out of danger.
