According to fire service spokesman Vasilis Vatrakoyannis, all forces involved fought a heavy “battle” during the night. Despite superhuman efforts, the fire quickly spread and is now moving towards Penteli. Additional forces arrived from the Peloponnese and Central Greece.

With the assistance of all competent authorities There are currently 510 firefighters, 16 forestry brigades and 152 vehicles, as well as a large number of volunteers, working at the fire. With the first rays of the sun, planes and helicopters entered the battle with the fire, providing assistance in the airdrop.

Five people taken to hospital with breathing problems due to thick smoke engulfing Attica, one firefighter suffered second-degree burns. So far, the health of citizens is not a cause for concern, and the firefighter has been hospitalized.

The firefighter was taken by ambulance from the Nea Makris Polyclinic with burns to his arms and legs, and doctors decided that he should be taken to the 251st General Aviation Hospital by EKAV ambulance. According to information, his burns will have to be treated by plastic surgeons.

Victims of the fire that continues to rage in various areas of Attica can apply for temporary accommodation in hotels.
