5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Sleep Naked on Hot Summer Nights

If you live anywhere other than the Cyclades, where the wind blows almost every day and “cools” the inhabitants, then you know very well what it is like to “melt” from the heat.

And while the idea of sleeping in or without underwear may be very appealing and, to some extent, reasonable, experts advise to learn, that there are several reasons to reconsider your decision and ultimately give up your habit.

According to a survey conducted by Casper, 28.5% of Americans sleep naked quite often, and 71.5% said they never go to bed without their pajamas.

And although sleeping naked has become a trend on social mediaexperts say that this not as good an idea as it might seem. It is well known that sleeping naked is not unusualhowever, there are some reasons (not to do this) that should be taken into account during the summer when it is hot outside. Let's take a closer look, Why You Should Sleep in Pajamas in Summer.

1. Hygiene issues. Every night, dust, sweat, and dead skin cells collect on your pillowcases and sheets. There's no way to avoid it. But you can do two things: slow down the time it takes for them to appear by wearing pajamas, and prevent them from touching your skin every night by wearing pajamas again. Considering that no surface is perfectly clean, even if you have your windows open all day, your pajamas will act like armor.

2. Allergies and hypersensitivity. If you have allergies or generally sensitive skin, sleeping naked is not the best ideaDead skin cells (mentioned in point 1), mites, or residue from body creams and hair products can damage your skin without you even realizing it.

3. Difficulty sleeping. In contrast to those who like to sleep naked, there is a large category of people who feel uncomfortable and awkward being naked, even if they are home alone. If you belong to this category, then no matter how much you try to adopt the fashion trend of nudists, the only thing you will achieve is to ruin the quality of your sleep by creating tension (wanting to overcome yourself).

4. Unexpected “guests”. Apart from practical and hygiene issues, another reason not to sleep naked are uninvited visitors that may end up in your bed at night. Mosquitoes are the most common example. However, spiders and cockroacheswhich can move around your home while you sleep. In this case, your pajamas will act as a cover, preventing them from getting on certain parts of your body.

5. Temperature. During the summer season, the air temperature is very high. However, if you think that sleeping naked will make you feel cooler, you are mistaken. In light and thin fabrics (pajamas) you will feel more comfortable and, if anything, will not let your mattress become soaked with sweat. What is easier: to wash pajamas or a huge mattress? Draw your own conclusions.
