Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the peace summit in Switzerland

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, like most heads of state and government of the European Union, is taking part in the Peace Conference on Ukraine, taking place on June 15 and 16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

The purpose of the conference, building on similar discussions and meetings held in previous months, is to promote a common understanding of the framework for achieving the peace goal and to define a roadmap for the interaction of both sides in the future peace process. Conference, tells CNN Greece, focuses on three topics:

  1. food security and freedom of navigation;
  2. nuclear safety;
  3. humanitarian issues – the release of prisoners of war and abducted children.

Topics discussed are based on the World Formula (ten point plan) presented President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in November 2022.

Food security is an issue with important international implications, which the Greek Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasized. It should be recalled that during visit to Odessa Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed the importance of both the historic city and the main export port in Europe and the world, as well as maintaining an open supply chain so that Ukraine can export its products, government sources said.

The Greek Prime Minister took part in the first plenary session of the conference and then held a four-by-four meeting with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola ahead of Monday's EPP leaders' summit in Brussels.
