For three days, Lake Vouliagmeni and the fantastic landscape around it will be the ideal place for incredible water jumps from a 27-meter cliff.
The international sports event Red Bull Cliff Diving returns to Athens after 13 years. The spectacular event will take place from 24 to 26 May, giving spectators the opportunity to enjoy a variety of exciting diving events from a platform height of 27 meters for men and 21 meters for women.
Cliff diving is an extreme sport that requires absolute concentration and incredible skill. Not only strength is important here, but also balance. Athletes must perfectly coordinate all the muscles in their body, but at the same time have absolute mental discipline and concentration to execute a perfect dive.
It is no coincidence that Red Bull Cliff Diving is considered one of the most impressive, but also difficult competitions. Height, speed, overload play a huge role, as do spatial perception, timing and physical strength.
In a fraction of a second, gravity pulls the athlete’s body from a height similar to the height of an 8-story building. The flight speed exceeds 85 km per hour. Without any safety net, athletes plunge into the void, making jumps complete with spectacular figures, relying on their professionalism and experience.
One of the most impressive spectacles on the planet was witnessed by 9,000 spectators in May 2011. 12 athletes from around the world were invited to Greece to compete in high-altitude diving.
