Winter in the middle of summer: snow fell in the mountainous regions of Greece

With heavy rains in the valleys that began last night in the Trikala prefecture and a warning message from Civil Protection sounded on the mobile phones of local residents, the weather in the region began to change dramatically from 16:00.

The rains continued all night and today, April 20, stopped at 4 am. A wave of bad weather moved to the east of Thessaly. However, in the evening, as temperatures dropped further, snow began to fall in mountainous areas above 1,000 m, trikalaola.gr reports. In Pertuli and at the ski resort one could see images of a real winter-winter. At the same time, the temperature even dropped below zero!

At the moment, all bad weather has stopped; the temperature in the lowlands is +8°C. Floods are not expected, since the fallen water has been absorbed into the thirsty soil and farmers will no longer have to worry about watering their agricultural land.
