MyCoast: A digital app for complaining about beaches

New rules have been introduced that will bring order to public property on the beaches and provide citizens with free access to the sea under conditions of transparency in the lease of the coastal strip (while protecting the environment).

Four ministerial decisions provided for by Law 5092/2024 “Conditions for the use of state property in coastal zones” were signed. A “Register of Beach Concession Agreements” and a digital application “MyCoast” are also being created, with which citizens will be able to immediately file complaints about unauthorized occupation of the coastal strip by any enterprises.

The responsibilities of concessionaires/tenants to serve citizens, ensure beach safety, and ensure accessibility are detailed.
For offenders Severe penalties have been established, especially in cases of obstructing the population’s free access to the sea.

Let us recall that last summer a number of rallies took place in Greece and even a public an activist movement called No Beach Occupation.
