Find out when it starts "godparents basket"what products are included in the list

From April 22 to May 4, a “godmother basket” will be in effect, as an amendment was introduced to parliament to monitor the prices of children's toys.

According to the amendment, undertakings specializing in the sale of children's toys to consumers whose total annual turnover exceeds one million (1,000,000) euros per year based on financial statements for the immediately preceding financial period must, from April 22, 2024 to May 4, 2024, regularly send to the Ministry of Development list of consumer goods children's toys (“basket of godparents”).

Obligated parties must include at least one (1) product from each categoryincluded in “basket of godparents”provided that they have products in this category, and provide them at an affordable price, in particular in comparison with other products in the same category, informing consumers visiting their physical or digital stores about the composition of what they offer “baskets”.

This information must be provided by any appropriate means, in particular by means of lists, brochures and, where appropriate, special markings on the goods or at the point of sale. List of products included in “basket of godparents”, can be sent by other enterprises, except those that are obliged to do so. Once a list of products is submitted, they will be required to comply with the provisions of this amendment. Let us recall that in 2023 the “basket of godparents” contained:

• Easter candles – toys
• Board games – puzzles, puppet games
• Dollhouses and other accessories (role play)
• Kids toys
• Figurines
• Construction and educational games (for example, with blocks)
• Children's cars – with and without remote control
• Electronic games
• Sports toys (such as balls, children's basketballs and goals)
• Stuffed Toys
• Musical toys.
