“Repair – Rent”: a platform for submitting applications has opened

Acceptance of applications for participation in the “Repair-Rent” program (“Ανακαινίζω – Ενοικιάζω”) begins today, April 11, 2024.

Thus, the Ministry of Labor, “My Home – Housing Policy for Youth”, promotes measures to rehabilitate the housing of young and vulnerable groups of the population, since benefits are provided to owners who do not have the necessary funds to repair their properties. The purpose of the program “Repair-Rent“(“Ανακαινίζω – Ενοικιάζω”) is to include empty houses in the rental market, subsidizing owners to upgrade them.

The bill stipulates that the program will include homeowners with an annual income of up to 40,000 euros and a property value of up to 300,000 euros, while excluding those who have joined energy saving or renovation programs for any of their properties in the last five years. The property must have an area of ​​up to 100 sq.m. and is located in an urban area, must not be declared as a first residence or as a rental, but must be reported as vacant on the E2 return for the last three years.

Those who join the program are subsidized repair and reconstruction costs up to 10,000 euros (including materials and work). The subsidy reaches 40% of the cost, provided that bills are paid electronically and the property is rented for a period of at least three years.

The program is funded by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family in the amount of €50,000,000 and concerns the renovation and renovation of approximately 12,500 empty houses with the aim of making them available for long-term rentals. The maximum subsidy amount will be 4,000 euros with the possibility of prepayment of 50%. As is especially emphasized, for the first time, subsidized expenses relate to current repair and restoration work.

After completion of the renovation, the property must be rented out to a private individual for a period of at least three years. The program will be implemented with the support and supervision of the State Employment Service (DYPA).
