The annual Dresden Peace Prize recognizes outstanding contributions to peace and international understanding. This year it will be awarded to Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of opposition Russian politician Alexei Navalny, who died in prison.
The award ceremony will take place on May 12 at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden – the Dresden State Drama Theater. The theater will provide additional information on April 8, writes BB.LV.
Previous recipients include former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, Israeli pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim, American documentary photographer James Nachtwey, and military analyst and whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.
