The second ship with humanitarian aid for Gaza is preparing to sail in the port of Larnaca (video)

After the delivery of 200 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by an NGO ship Open Arms, a second ship is awaiting departure in the Cyprus port.

In an interview with Euronews, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides notedthat the sea corridor opened to the Gaza Strip could become a model for providing assistance in other crisis situations. This is an important project for the supply of food and basic necessities and should be supported by the international community. Nikos Christodoulides says:

“For the first time in 17 years, the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza has been lifted only for ships leaving Cyprus. I am glad that my colleagues in the European Council have recognized the role of the Republic of Cyprus and the importance of the humanitarian corridor. It (the corridor) can play a role in the reconstruction not only of Gaza, because this model can be applied to many other crises.”

The first voyage along the sea corridor to Gaza, opened in mid-March, was made by a ship of the non-governmental organization Open Arms, which delivered 200 tons of food to the enclave.
