Rethymnon: Explosives found in hemp farmer’s house

A 45-year-old Greek who actively grew cannabis turned his house into… a warehouse with explosives.

Police from the Drug Enforcement Unit, who had evidence of the resident’s second employment, searched his home on Tuesday. They found 163 cannabis seedlings he was growing in pots and confiscated them, as well as one kilogram and 147 grams of raw cannabis, cannabis seeds and a precision scale.

During a targeted search in the criminal’s house, two kilograms and 160 grams of gelatin dynamite, 17 detonators, a 212 cm long fuse cord and a shotgun were found. An investigation is currently underway for possible involvement in the bombings and other crimes.

A case was opened against the farmer for growing, storing and trafficking drugs, illegal possession of weapons and violating the law on explosives, with which he was transferred to the prosecutor’s office of Rethymno, and 1,000 euros in his possession were confiscated.
