Consumers say they compare the prices of items included in their Lenten basket last year to see if they will be lower this year, and they are not happy with the comparisons.

According to the report, from March 13 to May 4, consumers will be able to buy products such as halva, Lenten salads and at least two types of frozen seafood from the Lenten basket. It is worth comparing the prices of these products:

Last year A 400-gram package of chocolate halva cost 2.36 euros. This year the same halva, but weighing 350 grams, costs 3.45 euros. Price increase is 60%. “Half of the salary is spent on food and again on necessities,” consumers say.

Pacific shrimp, which last year cost 7.35 euros, this year cost 9.18 euros, and frozen shrimp have risen in price from 4.79 euros to 5.18 euros. “Octopus is invariably expensive, regardless of whether it is Lent or not. Octopus is very expensive,” consumers say.

At the same time, branded taramosalata 250 grams, which last year cost 2.36 euros, costs 3.64 euros this year.
