Child benefit: find out when you can apply, payment dates

Until 18:00 on 11 March, the child benefits platform (A21) will remain open for new applications.

Recipients of child benefits can apply on the HICC platform www.idika.gr or via the website www.opeka.gryou must enter personal passwords for Taxisnet. On the A21 application form these must be entered in the appropriate fields:

• school division information,
• class and registration number of the child undergoing compulsory education.

If all student details have been cross-checked, the application can be submitted as usual. If they are not verified, a flag appears and the applicant is asked to attach the required supporting document to the A21 online application.

The amount will be calculated based on the number of dependent children claimed on the A21 for 2024 and the total household income the recipients had in the 2022 tax year. After filing your current year income tax return, income for the 2023 tax year will be taken into account when calculating the amount payable.

Recipients of child benefit are:

• Citizens of Greece,
• Greek citizens, foreigners of the same nationality holding an expatriate card,
• citizens of member countries EU,
• citizens of countries belonging to the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), as well as citizens of Switzerland,
  recognized refugees permanently residing in Greece, whose residence status is governed by the provisions of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, as amended by the 1967 New York Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees,
• stateless persons whose residence status in Greece is governed by the provisions of the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons,
  beneficiaries of humanitarian status,
• citizens of other states.

Payment dates

• Payment of the first installment benefits to beneficiaries will be paid on March 29, the last working day of the month, along with other benefits OPEKA.
• Payment of the second part expected on Friday 31 May 2024.
• The third part will be paid on Wednesday 31 July.
• Fourth part Child benefit A21 will be paid on Monday 30 September.
• Fifth part benefits will be credited to recipients’ accounts on Friday, November 29, 2024.
• Sixth part will traditionally be paid before Christmas, between 20 and 23 December.
