The bad weather turned out to be a joke: the Pinios River overflowed its banks

Since yesterday evening, 29/02, heavy rain has been recorded in Trikala.

The atmospheric front that arrived in Greece began its “march” across most of the country. Residents and institutions in the Trikala area (which was hit first by the weather) were reportedly warned. As can be seen in the video of the website trikalavoice.gr, the Pinios River dangerously “overflowed its banks” in the Kalambaki area.

March did not start like spring in Greece: thunderstorms, hail and hurricane winds were recorded on the first day of spring.

Temporary worsening weather will continue until Saturday morning (2-03-2024), with the main characteristics being heavy rain and storms, accompanied by a high frequency of lightning strikes and possibly hail. The wind in the eastern and southern seas will increase and reach 7, and in some places 8 points on the Beaufort scale.
